Toddler Storytimes
Toddler Storytimes (12months to 3 years) are designed to help young children develop their physical and mental skills and connections to prepare them for preschool and early reading. By continuing to make reading a positive time with parents and family members, toddlers grow their love of reading. By focusing on specific themes and topics, children grow their awareness of the world around them. And by practicing their motor skills, both gross and fine, they master their abilities to use their own fingers, hands, etc... in completing tasks.

Theme: Family (featuring Todd Parr books)
Opening Song - "If You're Ready"
Welcome/Talking Point
- Hello and welcome. Thank you all for coming. Today we're going to talk about families. Families are wonderful, don't you agree? Today we are spending time with our families and showing how much we care. For the adults, if your toddler gets wiggly, you can try to distract them with the toys in front of you, give them a few hugs and tickles, or just let them get up and shake it out. Let's begin!
- For parents, some of our songs will have matching hand gestures. This is a great way to teach your child their small motor skills to help them strengthen their fingers and toes. This also makes learning more active and fun, which should allow them to learn and play at the same time!

Talking Point
- Families can be made all kinds of ways. Some families have both a mommy and a daddy. Some have just one mommy or daddy. And some families have two daddies or two mommies. Families come in all shapes and sizes with one child or many. Some people live in large families and others are very small. There is no such thing as a wrong family as long as you love and care for each other.
