Parent Time
Whether you are a brand new parent or this is old hat, there is always something new to learn about your child's development. Even we here at the Shayville Library still read the latest research and go out for professional development to help us be better at working with your children. So we offer events for parents each month that focus on strategies for both literacy and childhood development.
Early Literacy Training
2nd Thursday of Every Month
7:00 - 8:00 p.m.
These sessions will go over tips and tricks to help your child learn to love reading and literature. Whether focused on lap time or letter recognition, each session will help you strengthen your bond to your child and prepare him or her for preschool and beyond.
Parenting Tricks
3rd Tuesday of Every Month
7:00 - 8:00 p.m.
As a parent, you have to deal with everything from your child crying for apparently no reason, to refusing to eat what you make them, to the dreaded "NO". With the help and advice of local parenting organizations and the Shayville Community College Child Development Program, we present monthly Q&A sessions and parenting tricks to help you raise a healthy, happy child. If you have a specific topic that you would like us to cover in future sessions, please leave a note in our front lobby suggestion box.
