EVENT:

Kick-Off Summer Reading with a Bar-B-Que
1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

With the help of our Shayville Grocery and our award-winning BBQ Sauce creator, Matt Smoker, the Shayville Library will host a Bar-B-Que to help kick off our summer reading program. Everyone who signs up to read the minimums for the summer will get free food and a BBQ wristband. We want everyone to sign up this year, so teens and adults can read and win, as well! Everyone who meets the minimum goals will get one entry into our random drawing for a new Kindle (drawing held August 29th). Every book beyond the minimum gets you an extra entry!

Ages 0 - 3        20 picture and/or board books read to you by your parents
Ages 4 - 6        10 picture and early story books
Ages 7 - 9         5 early story books and/or 3 chapter books
Ages 10 - 12     3 novels
Teens and Adults  4 novels

Kindle provided by the Shayville Friends of the Library with funds donated by members and earned through our monthly used book sales.

Costume Contest and Library Trick or Treat

Students from the Shayville Community College Theatre Arts program will come out to do face painting for children 12 and under. Each station at the library will have a Trick-or-Treat stand for infants and toddlers to safely travel.





November

Turkey Puppet Day
11:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Spend the day making turkey puppets with the help of our staff and your own hand for the outline. Design and color your own turkey puppets to create your own stories. The puppet theater will be open for kids to have their own puppet plays.

3D Paper Snowflake Creation
1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Create 3D paper snowflakes large and small. We'll show you how to make them! You can take them home and decorate your room with 3D paper snowflakes.
